Governor Bob Riley, who voted for legislation to ban partial birth abortion as a member of Congress, today praised the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling to uphold a federal law that prohibits the procedure.

"Partial birth abortion is so brutal, horrific and repugnant, it amazes me that anyone could support it. I believe we have a moral obligation to protect all children, the born and the unborn, and this ruling is a great step forward in upholding the sanctity of innocent life."
